Deze video ontkracht het idee dat alcohol de oorzaak zou zijn van seksueel geweld. De video laat zien dat alcohol in dergelijke situaties weliswaar heel vaak een rol speelt, met name in feestelijke kringen of onder studenten, maar dat het nooit de directe oorzaak is. Bij ongeveer \u00e9\u00e9n op de twee gevallen van seksueel geweld heeft de dader alcohol gedronken, en een aanzienlijk deel van de slachtoffers had ook alcohol gedronken, zonder dat dit ooit hun verantwoordelijkheid impliceert.<\/p>\n

Juridisch gezien is alcohol geen excuus en ook geen verzachtende omstandigheid: integendeel, het plegen van een zedendelict onder invloed van alcohol geldt als een verzwarende omstandigheid. Alcohol werkt vooral als een remverwijderaar en een versterker: het vermindert de zelfbeheersing, verzwakt remmingen en kan de stap naar daadwerkelijk handelen vergemakkelijken wanneer er al seksistische, gewelddadige of dominante overtuigingen aanwezig zijn.<\/p>\n

De video benadrukt ook dat seksueel geweld tegen kinderen verschillende oorzaken kent: alcohol is niet altijd een directe factor, maar gezinsomstandigheden die gekenmerkt worden door problematisch alcoholgebruik verhogen het risico aanzienlijk. Preventie is daarom gebaseerd op individuele en collectieve verantwoordelijkheid, het veilig maken van feestelijke omgevingen en vooral de ontwikkeling van psychosociale vaardigheden: omgaan met emoties, respect voor toestemming, empathie en het vermogen om grenzen te stellen of te herkennen.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
